$850 million for fire management? Track the stimulus bill

We just added a "widget" so you can track of the progress of the stimulus bill, or the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, that Wildfire Today covered on January 30. The bill may appropriate $850 million for wildland fire management and related activities.

The widget is on the right side of this page. If all of it is not visible, view your browser in full-screen mode and more of it will appear, depending on your display settings.

Who knows if this windfall for fire management will come to pass or not. On Monday, House Republican leaders put out a list of what they call wasteful provisions in the Senate version of the bill that is being debated. Two items on their list, according to CNN, are "$650 million for wildland fire management on forest service lands" and "$500 million for state and local fire stations".
