Oklahoma: 2 firefighters burned in rekindled fire

Two firefighters from the Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Department received first and second degree burns while working on a grass fire near Crescent, OK. They have both been treated and released from a hospital.

Chief Randy Poyndexter of the Kingfisher Fire Department said:

"They had a truck malfunction, the fire got into the tall grass and overtook the brush pumper".

The fire started on Saturday, rekindled Sunday during 30-40 mph winds, and eventually burned 2,000 acres in Logan County.

We found it interesting that an Associated Press article distributed to their subscribers described this as a "wind-fueled blaze". When wind becomes a fuel, we're in deep trouble.
